It is of a light gray and tan chert. It measures 49mm in length and 36mm in width. It was discovered at a site in the Department Dordogne, France. This piece most likely dates to the Neanderthals of the Late Mousterian (MTA) - Mousterian in Acheulian Tradition, dates to about 90,000 to 40,000 B.C.

Tan chert. The tan chert bands are opal-CT, made up of essentially a disordered layering of cristobalite and tridymite stacking units. The dark chert bands are quartz-phase chert.
