What Is Cross-Cultural Psychology? Cross-cultural psychology is a branch of psychology that looks at how cultural factors influence human behavior. While many aspects of human thought and behavior are universal, cultural differences can lead to often surprising differences in how people think, feel, and act.To create language pedagogy that facilitates more effective intercultural communication, we must have an adequate account of culture. In this article, I review literature on culture and human activity, blending it with literature on language learning to develop an adequate account of language learning and intercultural understanding.
