Stage 1 and stage 2 initially only referred to the two different types of EGR delete. Stage 1 only removed the diffuser tube through the use of 2 block-off plates. As far as GDE the Hot tune is very well rounded, it checks all boxes you would want and then some. Back when I got mine they had separate engine and trans tunes but now days they're combined into one. .
